About this place
Thick slabs of pork belly grilled tableside by the staff are the premier draw at Donidoni-ogikubo, cooked as the rendered fat runs off the griddle. Snipped into bite-sized pieces, the pork can be wrapped in leafy lettuce alongside grilled kimchi and seasoned bean sprouts, then dipped into soy-based tare, seasoned miso, or salted sesame oil. The juicy meat and crisp vegetables pair effortlessly with cold draft beer or draft makgeolli.
Broth-Rich Jjigae and Warming Soups
Beyond grilled meats, the restaurant features an expansive roster of soups and stews. Soft tofu sundubu-jjigae, anchored by a clam-infused broth, comes in variations topped with beef offal, bulgogi, or melted cheese. Heartier options include fiery yukgaejang stew with beef and vegetables, mild ox-bone gomtang, and half-chicken samgyetang, each well-suited to a full meal centered on rice.
Griddled Stir-Fries and Sizzling Bibimbap
For quick lunches or set meals, sizzling teppan stir-fries and bibimbap come in handy. Sliced pork belly griddled with scallions and onions, served with a fresh egg yolk, delivers charred edges and a clean salt seasoning. Meanwhile, stone-bowl bibimbap arrives hissing hot, allowing fresh namul and rice to crisp against the stone so that savory scorched crusts can be enjoyed through the very last bite.
Set in the basement floor of a building along the shopping street just outside Ogikubo Station's south exit, the dining room holds plenty of table seating. It accommodates everything from lively group gatherings over drinks to casual solo lunches.
